About the course

Our world-first Hypnobirthing Australia™ | Hypnobubs™ 'Positive Caesarean Birth’ course, is specifically designed to assist mothers and birth partners in achieving a positive pregnancy and caesarean birth. Because every parent deserves to approach the birth of their baby with joy! 

Practitioners certified to teach this program are part of a very important movement for a more family-friendly approach towards caesarean birth in this country.

In 2011, Melissa Spilsted, of Hypnobirthing Australia™ and Hypnobubs®, pioneered a special hypnobirthing course incorporating relaxation and self-hypnosis techniques, specifically designed to prepare parents for a positive caesarean birth. This course has received national and international acclaim and was featured on Channel 7 Sunrise, The Courier Mail and other national media in February 2015.  Melissa says… 

“Birth is a miracle and can be transformational, and I believe that each woman, however her baby comes into the world, is entitled to have a beautiful, calm birth experience as she meets that precious baby for the first time. I passionately believe that this is each woman’s own birth right. Sometimes mothers can feel disappointed and scared when faced with the news that a caesarean birth is required; however, we all do what we know is best for our precious baby. However, many parents do not realise that a caesarean birth does not have to mean an ending to our positive preparation and some of our most important birthing preferences. We call this ‘The Positive Caesarean Birth’.”

The caesarean section rate in Australia (and in many other countries) is currently sitting at over 30%, which is, according to the World Health Organisation, way too high. Our regular Hypnobirthing Australia™ | Hypnobubs® childbirth education courses already empower parents with the preparation, tools, support and knowledge to give themselves the best chance of achieving a natural birth, however, we know that sometimes the safest way to birth (for mother and/or baby) is via caesarean section. This course has been created with these mothers in mind. 

Only practitioners who have attended the additional training will be certified to teach the caesarean program and have access to our exclusive training materials.

After completing the prerequisites and certification, this course will provide practitioners with the qualifications and tools required to teach the ‘Hypnobirthing Australia™ | Hypnobubs® Positive Caesarean Birth’ program. 

Those certified will be listed on the website under the additional category of ‘Positive Caesarean Practitioner’ and are able to advertise that they are certified to offer the program to parents. 

This course can be life-changing for mothers and babies. Not only does it help them to have a more relaxing and positive pregnancy and birth – but it enables parents to start their parenting journey in a very empowered way.

Only practitioners who have acquired the necessary caesarean certification will be eligible to offer these services. 

The cost for the practitioner training and all materials is $595 (incl. GST) per practitioner. 

Our belief is that women and families everywhere, regardless of how their babies come into the world, deserve to have access to education and techniques to help make birthing one of the most positive and memorable experiences of their lives.
